I am writing from the United States concerning my son, who is studying in Malmo and living alone. He has a history of self-harm and recent suicidal behavior, and we are very worried about his current safety and isolation.
We plan to speak with him on Sunday to encourage him to seek help and present himself to you for support. We understand that you will not be able to share information about him with us if or when you begin working with him.
We would be grateful if you could please let us know:
What the next steps would be if he comes to you voluntarily;
Whether there is anything we can or should do from abroad to support that process; and
If you have any advice or resources for families on how to communicate such an intervention in a way that helps him accept care.
