transport of an patient

hello dear, my name is Ada and I live in Sarajevo, BiH, my neighbour by the name of Kaliman is a citizen of Sweden (he lives in Malmo). He came on holiday to Bosnia and had a stroke here and is now hospitalised in at the department for neurology in the KCUS (the biggest hospital in Sarajevo). He is slowly recovering but he needs now to be transfered to some care facility for physical treatmant and help. He has no family here nor in Sweden, but he has insurance in Sweden and is your citizen and we would like to transport him ( he has a card in him a FORSAKRINGSKASSAN card). He needs a medical transport of some sorts. Can you please help, who to conntact, what should we do.
Thank you so much

Hi!

This seems to be a very difficult situation for your neighbour. We hope he is feeling better and has gotten the care he’s in need of.

If a person gets sick when abroad and is in need of getting back to Sweden in another way than planned, he or she has to pay for their travels by themself. This also applies if you have to go back with the help of air ambulance. Travel insurance can compensate for the costs. So our advice to your neighbour is that he contacts his insurance company to inquire about how to proceed.

We wish him all the best.

Kind regards

Soctanterna
